Course Description

Qi Gong (QG) is one of the 5 branches of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) along with Acupuncture, Herbal medicine, Dietetics and Massages.

It's been known and practiced in China since at least 1100 years B.C., and started to spread in various Western countries at the end of the 1980's.

Becoming more and more valued for its positive effects on health, inner balance and global life, even representing a certain idea of human being and life, QG is now considered as a real Art of living for millions of Westerners.

To such an extent that a survey conducted in 2005 by Qi Gong European Federation (FEQGAE) reveals: 66% of interviewees contemplate practicing Qi Gong for long many years without any precise goal to reach.

Main identified QG therapeutic effects on the overall body mind are:

  • centring
  • aligning
  • focusing
  • calming
  • balancing
  • integrating
  • fulfilling

What more could we ask for?

QG is best practiced in the open air, since nature is an immense support to:

  • cleanse out and refresh our body
  • renew the energy dissipated during daily activities
  • get back in touch with one self
  • expand one's awareness towards people and environment all around

The QG practice will provide its magic with certainty to anyone training on a regular basis. Moderation is a must all along, to avoid any negative counter effects such as physical tiredness, or energy wear out symptoms for example.

There are many various styles of QG developed through time by many “teachers and masters". This accounts for the fact that QG indeed contributes to connect with one's inner self, thus leading the practitioner, with time and growing awareness, towards mastery and creation of its own style. Before then, one does need to study and sincerely dedicate lots of time and energy to the practice, if possible under skilled and valuable supervision.

Meanwhile and beyond health improvement, QG is a beautiful way of experiencing life vastness, a real Art of living by itself and last but not least, easy to access in all ages and health conditions.

Qi Gong Teacher & Life Coach

Sonia Bruce

Considering life experiences as opportunities to deepen mental understanding and knowledge is one of the consequences of my initial training as a science student. African and Eastern cultures then made a strong and so far lasting impression on me while studying some of their arts (afro-cuban dance and percussion, Yoga, Acupuncture and Shiatsu, Tai Chi and Chi Gong, Zazen meditation). Since then, by the blending of both these major influences, the body-mind turned to be my first partner in terms of self balancing and inner growth.
